NOSO - a must-do offline experience. If online, try 1000 journals.
Via Hilde: while in offline mood on holiday, I should have known about NOSO - I could have gotten the full experience at the Southern Exposure exhibit, when in San Franciso, the NOSO project is on display right now. But do check it out at the website, very much on spot ;).
What I did pick up in San Francisco though, what a print copy with samples from the 1000journals project. Another interesting project of distributed narrative, online sharing etc reminiscent of the Postsecret phenomena. San Francisco based artist Someguy has sent 1000 journals out in the world, to be written in and forwarded by people all over the world. Website tracks the journals and holds scans of all the journals returned (available?). Not so NOSO, but very much a different variation of social software with a very material component. Book is great, it even has stitches! Btw, project continues at 1001 journals! The future of online news and are crossmedia strategies successful?
..are some of the topics, my nextdoor office neighbour from my time in Atlanta, Arne Krumsvik will be discussing in his seminar talk at the IT University tomorrow.
Arne has helped organise a study of 20.000 Norwegian online news readers and 200 Norwegian media executives involved in online news production in 2005 and 2007 and presents and discusses the results of this survey. For this talk he has also made a survey of the opinions of several Danish media executives, so Im pretty excited about the talk, which looks like it might radically change some of the ideas I have about the market! The talk (in English) takes place in Auditorium 1 at the IT University from 15.15 to 17.00 wednesday (tomorrow, the 2th). Access is not free, but cheap (kr. 250), should you in this last moment decide you want to participate, we might fit you in - sign up or drop Ken or me an email via the event page: www.cfje.dk/krumsvik. 26.3.07
Back
I'm back from holiday. I borrowed a nice digital camera from a friend (because my new mobile phone with the 3MB camera crashed completely again shortly before leaving: thank you, Sony Ericsson), and took some pictures on the way. They are here.
