"Been around the world, na na na"...
Yes, Im back from Tokyo. Yes, Im alive. Yes, Im running around like mad to catch up with the admin overhead, thesis exams, and day-to-day deadlines that ITU keeps heaping on my table (grrr). The conference was, to put it mildly, weird: it seems like image visualisation computer scientist had taken it over and they sure as hell do not have the same concept of "world" as I do. But it was an interestning conference etnographic experience for that reason. Took more time off-conference that I normally would for that reason, and therefore shot a lot of cool picture (IMHO ;)) in Tokyo city which I will post in the photoblog shortly.
And talking about photos and cities, Martin gave me a nifty link to a photosite called: iPods Around the World - it reminds me a bit of the Implementation project (for which I made a few installments in Tokyo), in that you can see it as a form of distributed "narrative" about an IPOD's travel around the world and where the ultimate goal of the "game" embedded in it, is to be able to be the one to post the most aestethic, the most "telling" or the funniest pictures from the weirdest places in the world.
Comments:
Lisbeth -- Cool! Thanks for posting the Implementation stickers in Tokyo. I'm looking forward to seeing them. Send em along to implementation at nickm dot com or post 'em on flickr when you get a chance. It was fun hanging out with you at Digital Og Sosial and hope to see you again soon -- Scott
