This is the research diary of researcher Lisbeth Klastrup, since february 2001 sharing her thoughts on life, universe, persistent online worlds, games, interactive stories and internet oddities with you on the www.

I am currently on leave from the IT University of Copenhagen, and from aug. 2006 - aug. 2007 working as Associate Research Professor at the Center for Design Research Copenhagen, an independant center situated at the School of Architecture. During this year, I will be working on a book about the development of aesthetics, design and interaction on the WWW, together with colleague Ida Engholm.

My blog often reflects how busy I am in general, so posting may be pretty irregular, as well as my potential response to comments. But I read them!

In the radio
Tuesday night I was interviewed about Pia's and my current research into Danish Politician's weblogs. You can hear the interview here - it's approx. 21 minutes into the programme the feature on weblogs starts - with an interview with Timme Bisgaard Munk from Kommunikationsforum.

I'm a bit unhappy about the interview, having heard it. It comes across as if the Danes we interviewed said that they do not find weblogs by politicians credible. To be more precise, the Danes we interviewed only commented on communication via the internet in general, not on weblogs specifically. It is true that many of the people we talked to found internet communication by politicians less credible, because they were not questioned or probed by journalists, like they are on tv or radio.
- Hopefully, weblogs will, could and should come across as more credible communication than internet communication in general, at least when the commentary function is implemented, because readers are able to ask the critical questions here - and get an immediate response. But of course the discussion on the comments that I also had with the journalist was not part of the broadcast.

What a Dane may do and not do when shopping on the internet
Of course, in a country like ours, we in fact have a lot of rules and regulations regarding shopping on the internet. Udskrift af Internethandel for private. For instant, the owner of the site have to pay "moms" if you download a software programme from a country outside the EU. Hmmh.

More weblog interviews
I've been interviewed for an article for the Danish country newspapers. It has resulted in this article, which has been brought in Fyns Stiftstidende: Logbog over et liv (log over a life).

A journalist from Danish magazine Femina read the article, and I just had a talk with her. Could be interesting to see what would come of an article for this magazine's audience. Im a bit nostalgic about this particular mag: my introduction to the media (and journalist interviews) took place in 1987, when I was interviewed for Femina, following an national essay contest about "Future Jobs for Women", which I won along with two other women. I'll post it here at some point - scary how radical opinions you have at the age of 17 ;).

New Journal: Journal of Research Practice
Via a colleague, I got a link to a new journal, interesting initiative - I'd like to see more discussions of how we actually do research in digital media: Journal of Research Practice
